St Michael’s parish covers the rural areas of Arlecdon, Rowrah, Asby and part of Skelsceugh. Arlecdon is a small village on the fringe of the Lake District, the nearest lakes being Ennerdale Water and Loweswater.
St Michael’s stands on the site of a 12th-century church. This was rebuilt in the 18th century and retains some 12th-century stonework in the chancel. In 1905 major restoration work took place when the tower was added, with 8 bells, and the church was altered to its present form.
St Michael’s holds Holy Communion Services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday in the Month at 11:00am, and once a month there is an All Age Service at 4pm. Do look at the ‘What’s on’ page for more forthcoming dates.
