Is it just me or is life getting busier? It seems that there are fewer times to just stop and be still. As life becomes busier, the challenges we face increase. We all need times to take a deep breath.
Every week, we will be gathering online for a contemplative time of prayer, which we are calling ‘And Breathe’. It is a time of quiet. A time to allow your soul to catch up with you. A time to come into God’s presence … and breathe.
A typical meeting will involve a time of welcome and greeting, a Bible reading (and/or a reading from another source, possibly a poem), a short reflection, some music and a period of meditation (about 20 minutes). After this, there will be a time to chat and share at the end of the meeting. The whole meeting will last for about 45 minutes. Anyone is welcome to join us.
We are hoping to restart these sessions in person as well as online. If you would like to take part please do contact Rev Nicki to find out how you can join in.
As the national situation in terms of responding to the pandemic is quite fluid, these arrangements may be subject to nationally and locally implemented changes. Please do check in with either Rev Nicki or any of the church wardens if you have any queries about whether services in the church buildings will be taking place on any particular Sunday.
Do get in touch if we can be of any help or support at this time.
A prayer from the New Zealand Prayer Book for People Facing Great Uncertainty
God of the present moment,
God who in Jesus stills the storm
and soothes the frantic heart;
bring hope and courage to all
who wait or work in uncertainty.
Bring hope that you will make them the equal
of whatever lies ahead.
Bring them courage to endure what cannot be avoided,
for your will is health and wholeness;
you are God, and we need you.
Amen
